Captain’s Challange

In case it was not a big enough challenge to play stroke play from the whites/blues on our championship course,
Bob and Jennifer organised for some rainy days to cut the run and some high winds on the actual day….

Despite all this a healthy number of members accepted the challenge and perversely even seemed to enjoy it!

The scores, unsurprisingly, were not low but people got round and a few did actually have some good rounds.

In the ladies section, Veronique took 3rd place with a 99, Jacky second with a 97 but
the winner with a steady and accurate round was Pia with a commendable 94…..
well done to these three and to all the ladies who took part.

For the men, Frederico was in 4th place with an 88 and Mickael 3rd with an 87.
Peter G pushed for the top spot with an excellent 84 but he could not hold off Luke who won with a round of 82.
Given the conditions these were excellent scores and others were not far behind with gutsy performances.

Well done to the 28 men who took part and especially to the four guys at the top.

The day was finished off by a fundraising event for our captains charity where Chris and David Rae
bravely agreed to eat some of the Swedish fermented herrings provided by Michael.
Thank you to them and also to Bruno for supporting this in supplying the necessary accompagnements.
Over 150 euros was raised for Ser Igual in Tavira which supports local disabled children and their families.

All in all, a successful day… thank you everyone for your support.
